The book gives the transfers of letters and works Kukai (774-835), the founder of the Japanese school of esoteric Buddhism of Singon, written during his stay in Tansky China in 804-6, as well as the translation of the diary of the Tandai Ennin school (793-864), compiled during his stay in China in 838-46. This diary is considered the only description of one of the most interesting periods in Chinese history, marked by serious persecution of Buddhism.
