The book "in search of God. The metamorphoses of the idea of God and Christianity "are devoted to the analysis of Protestant theology in the context of the historical development of liberal ideas within Christian theology from the time of the Enlightenment to the present.
The book analyzes the theoretical sources of Protestantism (I. Kant, F. Schleiermacher), various concepts of modern Protestant theologians - R. Bultman, D. Bonhoffer, G. Vakhanyan, G. Koksa, V. Hamilton, P. Van- Buren, P. Tillikh, A. Whitehead, N. Hartshorn, Sh. Ogden. The essence of their searches of the "genuine" new pantheistic god immanent to the world is revealed.
The book pays great attention to the analysis of contradictions and the irreconcilable struggle between philosophy and theology in the process of a long evolution of Christianity. Philosophy conquered its right from the standpoint of a critical mind to explore all religious issues, not turning to the theology for help. This event marked the beginning of the post -Christian era.
