The word Iliotropion from Greek is translated as sunflower. As the ancient Roman writer Pliny writes, “the sunflower plant represents a kind of miracle in nature: it is constantly turned to the sun to the sun and, along with it, turns from east to west, even in the days of cloud, so much loves the sun.” This property makes this flower with a symbol of a Christian, always looking for God - an immaterial sun illuminating all the creation - and always ready to fulfill His will
