Ekaterina Konstantinovna Livshits (1902-1987) is the widow of the poet and translator Benedict Livshits. The book, compiled by Pavel Nerler, included her memories, diaries and letters. They talk about the happy time of friendship with Osip and Nadezhda Mandelstams, Mikhail Kuzmin, Korney Chukovsky, about the bitter years of the war, deprivations and camps. Her letters, covering half a century (from the 1940s to the 1980s), is evidence of a long and stubborn struggle to preserve human dignity and for saving the poetic heritage of Benedict Livshits.
