Imagine the pilgrims of the last century or at times, even earlier. People set off on a vow, with blessing, in the aspiration of healing from an incurable ailment, and most often, simply by irresistible craving to touch the shrine, carry and keep it in their own heart. Today, as before, like hundreds of years ago, human motives remain unchanged. However, the very method of pilgrimage has changed. Today, as a rule, they get to any transport, while before they were most often on foot, and the hardships of the path were part of the victim brought to God.
The path was long, the work is hard, and the food is scarce, because most often people who had no other baggage, except for a knapsuit of bread and salt behind them, were sent to holy places. They gathered on the road two, three, one by one, or even whole families. And after the grueling days of the journey, suddenly from afar, as if from the sky, the domes of the cathedral that had grown up were shown. And people, raising their heads to the sky and to the cathedral, overshadowed themselves gratefully by the sign of the Cross: it means that the Lord has been able to reach, here she is - the Pochaev Lavra, the monastery of the Mother of God and the Monk Job!
