The book is dedicated to the history of Roman dads of the 7th-10th centuries, which played a crucial role in the history of Christianity, in the history of the Church in the West, as well as in the history of Italy and other countries of Western Europe of the Early Middle Ages. The book presents the biographies of Roman dads, illuminated their activities, and also discusses their works. Fragments of the most important texts of their works in Latin with translation into Russian are given, many of them are first. Not only the role of such undoubtedly great dads as Grigory I, Martin I and Sylvester II, but also such controversial figures in the history of the Church as the Horror I or Formos and its successors, was studied in detail. Particular attention is paid to the contribution of Roman pontiffs to the process of evangelization of Europe and the formation of European culture.
