The monograph is a scientific study of the biography of the historical personality of the Caucasian War Naib Hadzhimurad (1816-1852), recreated on a wide historical background of the Russian conquest of Dagestan in the first half of the XIX century (1801-1852) The book uses almost all the preserved primary sources of that era of the most diverse types - from the Arabic -speaking chronicles of local authors and the official Imamat correspondence to Russian documents, second -related, mountain folklore and oral stories. Documents of archival funds of central and regional assemblies were used - Moscow (RGVIA, GARF, RGADA, Rome), St. Petersburg (RGIA, OR RSN), Tbilisi (TsIAG), Makhachkala (IIAE DNC RAS), Many of which are first introduced into scientific circulation. The revision of the stereotypes of the Soviet and modern historiography of the Caucasian war made it possible to look differently at the contradictory figure of Hadzhimurad. The study claims to be a full portrait of the legendary Nyaba, as close as possible to the historical prototype, Hadzhimurad from Hunzach - different from the world -known folklore and literary.
