The full name of the creation of St. Theophan the Recluse is "gospel story about the God of the Son, who has embodied our sake of salvation, in a sequential order set forth by the words of the holy evangelists". "Gospel History" is one of the most important interpretative works of St. Theophanes, occupying a special place in Russian spiritual literature. This is a guide to the Holy Gospel - the main book leading to salvation. The whole earthly life of the Savior is described in detail by the author with the words of the holy evangelists in chronological sequence. Everyone can find here a description of the events of the gospel history of parts and paragraphs that indicates their content. In an appeal to readers, the saint explains the rules adopted by him to establish the order of gospel events. Saint Theophanes believed that the gospel should not be so much interpreted as to reflect on him. The book will be useful to the widest circle of readers - both to those who only perceive the first words of the Holy Battery, and to those who strive for a deep knowledge of the Holy Scriptures and his fertile power.
