The book sets out the history of origin and development in the II century. BC. - VII century. N.E. unique Greco-Buddhist education-gandhara, in the territory of the north-west of modern Pakistan and the east of Afghanistan.
Achaemenid Empire won Gandhara in the VI century. BC, Alexander the Great - in 327 BC, under the jurisdiction of the Greeks this region remained only about twenty years old, after which Gandhara became part of the Mauryev empire, and then - the Indo -Greek kingdom. It was in the last period that it turned into the center of Buddhism and the source of its spread into Central Asia, being, at the same time, the center of Bactria Zoroastrianism and Hinduism. The Bactrian Greeks were followed by the Scythians, who, in turn, were supplanted in 35, Parfyans, and Kushangs came behind them. Gandhara reached the peak of the development of culture from the 1st to the 5th century, when it was a crossroads of trade routes connecting the Roman Empire in the West with Tibet and China in the East, and absorbed the influence of various civilizations.
