The textbook gives students general ideas about the historical and cultural traditions of Orthodox Christianity, the Russian Orthodox Church in connection with the calendar cycle of Orthodox holidays. The content of the educational publication is aimed at the spiritual, moral and patriotic education of schoolchildren on the basis of Russian traditional spiritual values. The textbook complies with the Federal State Educational Standard (GEF) of basic general education, belongs to the mandatory subject area of the "Fundamentals of the spiritual and moral culture of the peoples of Russia" at the level of basic general education, which is a logical continuation of the subject area "foundations of religious cultures and secular ethics" in elementary school.
