The Four Gospel opens a series of textbooks developed for the undergraduate of the spiritual schools of the Moscow Patriarchate under the leadership of the Higher Church Council. The first volume of the textbook proposed to the reader consists of the introduction of two parts: "The beginning of the gospel history" and "Nagoric sermon".
Isagogical issues are being understood in detail: evidence of church legend about authorship and the time of writing the gospels, the theories of the origin of the gospels, which have been advanced in biblical science from the XIX to the beginning of the XXI century, are presented and critically analyzed.
The first part examines all the initial chapters of the four gospels, including the stories of Matthew and Luke about the birth of the Savior, the narrative of the synoptics evangelists about the baptism of Jesus Christ, about the entering the preaching and calling of the first disciples. Much attention is paid to the issue of gospel chronology.
The second part of this volume is the consideration of a nagorous sermon containing the quintessence of the moral teachings of Jesus Christ.
The textbook meets the current requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard of Higher Education. It is addressed to students of both theological seminaries and secular universities that train students under the educational standard on theology, as well as all those interested in biblicalism and theology.
