The book of Archimandrite Methodius (Zherev) “Father John of Kronstadt. 1829-1908 ”first reached Bulgarian in 1934, long before the All-Russian shepherd was glorified in the face of saints. In Russian, this book was published in Sofia by the Synodal Publishing House of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church in 1957, at a time when the name of the great ascetic was silent or diligently etched from the memory of the Russian people. The work of the Bulgarian admirer of the righteous John speaks of both the spiritual greatness of the church experience of the Kronstadt preacher and the shepherd, and his indisputable holiness. The book includes the biography of the ascetic, the memories of contemporaries, evidence of the miracles revealed according to the prayers of the saint, extracts from his diaries. Of particular interest are the compilation and comments of the author as a clergyman.
The uniqueness of this publication lies in the fact that it is based on a samizdat typewritten copy of the translation of the book made in Soviet times. This is the first official publication of the book by Archimandrite Methodius (Gereyeva) in Russia
