The translator of English -speaking poetry G. Kruzhkov collected the essays accumulated over many years and notes on the art of translation, as well as reflection on translations of classics and his own poems, one way or another related to the art of translation. How to recreate someone else"s poem in Russian-what is only and unique by definition? The task is almost impossible, but also unusually exciting. No wonder the wonderful Russian critic Vladimir Weidle wrote: “There is, perhaps, nothing that would bring us closer to the contemplation of the creature of poetry than work on translations of poems or even if only a thoughtful assessment of such work.” A conversation about a poetic translation is, first of all, a conversation about verses, about how they live and what they breathe.
