This book is a critical reconstruction of the Greek text of the Constantinople Evhology of the early XI century.
Echoology contains a material that is today three separate books: a servant, a trembshik and a full bishop official (with an ordination to bishops and a wedding at the kingdom of the sovereign) Evoologies consists almost exclusively of prayers and some of some headings, the study of which allows us to get a visual idea of the composition of Byzantine worship in the most brilliant era of their development and perfection, namely, between the end of the iconoclastic crisis and the ruin of the churches of the capital during the capture of the Franks.
This era approximately coincides with the baptism of the Slavic countries. The brilliance and beauty of the Constantinople worships prompted the envoys of Prince Vladimir to advise him to accept this particular type of Christianity for Russia.
The texts of modern Slavic servant, Trebnik and official are something else than the translation of the Greek original. Therefore, the importance of the proposed texts for a better understanding of the essence and meaning of the Byzantine services and treb is obvious.
One of the important parts of Byzantine worships is round -the -clock services that make up the church day: Vespers, Matins. Clock, etc. As is known from Eugology himself and from the book "How the ancient Byzantines prayed to God", in that era, monastic Chasos, supplemented by Oktoich, had not yet been used in the cathedral and parish temples. Triudia and Mineas, and the so -called "song study" was served, some of the prayers of the Utepy and Vespers whose was included in the current servant.
