The famous book of St. Dorotheus (V century, memory of June 5/18) was based on his instructions to his students. Avva Dorofei began his monastic feat in the monastery of St. Serida (Palestine, near Gaza), where he fought among the great elders Barsonofiya, John the Prophet and Avva Serid. After the end of the last two and the departure in the full shutter of St. Barsonophy, he accepted his recthood in one of the Palestinian monasteries.
