June 16-27, 2016 on about. Crete took place a meeting of the Primate and representatives of 10 out of 14 mutually recognized Orthodox churches, which in the official documents of the meeting itself is called the Holy and Great Council of the Orthodox Church. The status and significance of this collection is evaluated in different ways by representatives of the Orthodox churches, the assessments fluctuate from recognition of the cathedral of the “Ecumenical” status to critical or sharply negative characteristics. This publication of the official documents of the Cretan Cathedral of 2016 does not seek to popularize the acts of the meeting that caused such significant disagreements in the Orthodox world - but only solves the information problem: she introduces the audience interested in the current state of affairs in world Orthodoxy, with official documents that were the fruit of the cathedral The works of hierarchs and theologians over the past decades. For this publication of documents of the cathedral, official Russian -speaking texts are displayed with documents in other official languages of the cathedral - English and French, and are also brought into line with the modern norms of the Russian language.
