The book proposed to the reader is devoted to the consideration of the position of doctors among the ancient Romans. Using the epigraphic method, the author explores the history of this public group from the moment of its origin to the era when it began to have a significant impact on the course of the civil and political life of society. The work presents an ancient view of the activities and significance of doctors and its change under the influence of Christianity, describes the expansion of the privileges of doctors under the emperors, and the scientific activity of ancient Roman doctors is highlighted. Various categories of doctors who existed in ancient Rome are considered: military and civilian doctors, palace and city archias, as well as doctors who have been in private service --- doctors of imperial courtiers and slaves, doctors of gladiators, doctors of workers" colleges, etc.
