The problem of Orthodox religious identity is considered from the point of view of the influence of five types of discourse on it, widely represented in the Orthodox semiotic picture of the world: philosophical, mythological, artistic, political and ideological. Types of religious identity have been identified: normative, marginal and folklorized - and it is determined which type of discourse most pragmatically affects the formation of one type or another of Orthodox identity. The authors come to the conclusion that the existence of "rural" and "urban" Orthodox discourse in the modern Russian Federation. The first leads to the development of social deformations in the field of religious identity and is the basis for the formation of folklorized religious identity. The second forms a normative Orthodox identity, avoiding archaization and development of centaur-idi. This study was conducted as part of the scientific project supported by the RFFI No. 18-011-00164 on the topic "discursive study of religious identity".
