Archimandrite Sophronius (Sakharov, 1896-1993) became known to the whole world as the author of the most amazing life written in the twentieth century, the book Elder Siluan Athos "(later published as Rev. Siluan Athos") It published a countless number of times in more than twenty languages of the world, for many people in different countries, having opened the way to the secret and hearty meeting with God in the vicissitudes of the stormy twentieth century. The elder Sofroniy himself, a faithful student and heir to St. Siluana, after many years of exploits on Athos, founded in England, in Essex, the monastery of St. John the Baptist. Being a theologian and Isihast, a preacher and a confessor, the author of many books and conversations, he truly became “all for all”, generously sharing his spiritual gifts. In the word of the elder Sofroniy, the centuries -old experience of the Orthodox tradition was expressed by a clear and close language for our contemporary and, which is especially important.
