In continuation of the multi-volume edition of the diary of Metropolitan Arseny (Stadnitsky) and the publication of the memoirs of members of the Holy Council of the Orthodox Russian Church 1917-1918. This volume is entirely devoted to the work of the cathedral. The author of the diary, who did not miss a single meeting of the cathedral, chaired by 140 meetings, which was part of all the structures of the cathedral, recreated a bright picture of his work. As an outstanding church and statesman, he deeply realized the meaning of the events that took place in Russia. Understanding the need to conduct the annals of the cathedral activity, Metropolitan Arseny regularly, despite the huge workload, kept his diary, which brought us the history of the decision of the cathedral, the atmosphere of the revolutionary Moscow, the spiritual rise caused by the election of the Patriarch. The value of the publication, in particular, is due to the fact that Metropolitan Arseny was close to the chosen Patriarch Tikhon, being one of the candidates for the patriarchal throne. Comments to the text complement the published text, give the historical context of the described period. The book will be interesting to both church and secular historians, as well as all those interested in the history of Russia in the twentieth century
