Among the outstanding church figures of the 20th century, the Holy Patriarch Pimen (Izvekov, 1910-1990) occupies a special place. Strict fidelity to Orthodoxy, deep prayer, love for native spiritual and church traditions and Church Slavonic language, humble wisdom became the qualities that distinguished him and helped to lead a church ship. Patriarch Pimen did not survive before the celebration of Orthodoxy in our country, but he already saw the changes that the Russian society was supposed to lead to spiritual transformation.
