The new book of the famous archaeologist, art critic and religious scholar Pau Figuras is devoted to the study of the main ideas about death and posthumous existence in Judaism and early Christianity. The author represents these ideas to the reader in the form of an anthology or a systematic collection of Old Testament, apocryphal, New Testament, Talmudic and early Christian texts, which talk about life after death. The book also proposes an overview of the influence of foreign religions on Jewish beliefs. All these ancient texts are presented in six chapters of the book, each of which consists of detailed introduction, the texts themselves and notes. The book also includes an application about Jewish tombstones and a list of used literature. The author does not seek to make any specific critical or analytical conclusions, but enables ancient texts to speak for themselves, and the reader to come to his own conclusions about the evolution of ideas about death and posthumous fate in different historical periods
