The hymns of the Monk Simeon of the New Theologian (X-XI centuries), one of the deepest Byzantine thinkers, are known to the Russian reader in the prosaic translation of Hieromonk Panteleimon (Uspensky), first published in 1917. The poetic translation of the chosen hymns of the Monk Simeon of the New Theologian, included in the book "Come, the True Light, was carried out by Metropolitan Hilarion (Alpheev) Thanks to this translation, the Russian reader is given the opportunity to recognize the Monk Simeon as one of the greatest Christian poets, whose work has no analogues in world literature.
