The greatest Serb of the 20th century, St. Nicholas Serbsky (Velimirovich, 1880-1956) is certainly the most vivid and large-scale person in the latest history of the Balkans. Long before the official canonization (May 2003), prayerly revered in the entire Orthodox world, he was also given the most precious gifts of the Holy Spirit at the time of his earthly life. With all their lives, SVT. Nikolai steadily testified that the true pastoral ministry of God is inconceivable without the combination of high spirituality, modern culture and deep knowledge of folk life.
The work “Missionary letters” is a collection of 278 letters-toes to different people written in the 30s of the XX century. The saint gives his individual answer to each questioner, at the same time turning to the readers of the book.
If I may say so, the “missionary meaning” of “missionary letters” lies in the breadth and universality of the approach of St. Nicholas to his audience, combined with simplicity, briefness and convincing letters. Each letter carries a bright moral or creed lesson, understandable to the reader. This gives this assembly a special relevance for a modern person
