The Church Slavonic dictionary was compiled by Archpriest A. Svilin in 1893. Before the revolution of 1917, he was used in parish schools and theological schools as a textbook and withstood more than 7 publications. The dictionary was intended for reading the Gospel, Psaltiri, Chasoslov, and educational Oktoikha. It is distinguished by the simplicity of presentation and accessibility to a wide circle of readers. In addition to the explanation of the meanings of Church Slavonic words, some historical and geographical information about the events, objects and faces of the sacred history are given here.
