In 2007, the leadership of the Russian Holy Panteleimon Monastery on Athos made a firm decision to put the library and archive of the monastery in order. From this moment, regular work began on the search, collecting and subsequent systematization of archival materials. With the blessing of the abbot of the monastery of the Holy Archimandrite Jeremiah, a working group was created, which was headed by the first epitrope and confessor of the monastery, Hieromonk Makarii (Makienko) and which included the inhabitants of our monastery. The following tasks were set in front of her: - To collect the entire archival fund, dispersed in different rooms of the monastery, into one repository. - clean each document (mechanically and using special tools) from insects and dust. - Create conditions for the restoration of damaged books and documents. - prepare a special room (thermo- and hydrostatic) to place the archive of the monastery. - attract specialists in the field of archival affairs for consultations and developing an archive cataloging plan. - ensure the process of inventory and cataloging of the archive office equipment and equipment. - Develop special computer programs for the inventory and cataloging of the archive. - carry out analysis, systematization and cataloging of the archive
