Easter canon, stichera and hours of Holy Easter - the creations of the Monk John Damaskin - make up the essential part of the Easter Utility of the "holiday of holidays" and are outstanding works of church literature not only from the solemnity of their external form, but also in their internal virtues, which, in terms of force of the power consisting in Its thoughts, by the hill and wealth of content. They introduce us into the spirit and meaning of the very holiday of the resurrection of Christ, encouraging this event, when, according to St. John Chrysostoy, “people connected with angels and, coupled with ethereal forces, offend the laudatory songs to God”.
