The book is the first in Russian historiography an attempt to get closer to the biography of Caesaria of Arlatsky (c. 470-542) The bishop of the large Mediterranean city, who headed the department for almost forty years, was Caesaria a prominent church politician and the author of the first monastic charter in the West, developed specifically for women"s communities. The relations of the bishop with church and secular authorities, his transformations in the life of the clergy and monasticism, as well as the context of the termination of the semi -podlagian disputes in the church cathedral convened by him are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to Caesaria and the specifics of its sermons. Some contours of the perception of Caesaria as a saint are also outlined, in particular, his image was analyzed as a miracle worker.
