We are pleased to report the release of the Buddhist Masters-Magi "book in which 54 biographies of the most famous Mahasiddhs of India are collected.
The authorship of legends is attributed to the Indian yogi Abhayadatta (XII century), who dictated them to the Tibetan translator Mondube Sheb.
Magnificent illustrations were performed by the modern British artist Robert Bir, the author of the Encyclopedia of Tibetan Symbols and Ornaments, which had previously published in our publishing house.
In the period between the 9th and 12th centuries, East India was ruled by the Palais dynasty - kings that supported the development of tantric Buddhism. Under their patronage, Tantra became the dominant spiritual system of India. She was practiced and conveyed by the Mahasiddhi yogis, the “great perfect” - Buddhist hermits, loyal to the ideals of freedom, rebels, who rebelled against hypocrisy and charlatanism, false philosophizing, caste system and the ritual purity of the Brahmans. Many of them were musicians and poets, their comprehension was reflected in the wonderful mystical songs written in a spacious language using metaphors such as house and family, cattle breeding and crafts, as well as love and sensual intimacy
