The mentor of the contemplation of Dogen (1200-1253) is one of the first Japanese teachers of contemplation, Zen, and one of the most active religious leaders of his era. In Japan, founded by Dogan in 1245 in 1245, as well as in dozens of Buddhist monasteries around the world, instructions that he have developed regarding the organization of the life of the Buddhist community are still being implemented. The monograph illuminates the teachings of Dogen in the context of the process of the Japanese perception of mainland Buddhism and is designed to show how in the XIII -XIV centuries. Innovations in the lifestyle of monks, in cult practice and in ways of asceticism, took root among members of the community. The book includes the research materials “Dogen and the development of the tradition of Zen in the Japanese Buddhist community of the XIII-XIV centuries.” (RGNF project 15-03-00140, 2015-2017) The book contains translations of eleven treatises of Dogen from the corps “The container of the essence of the true law”, “Simo Gennzo”.
