Dmitry Vasilievich Pavlov was at the posts of the People"s Commissar of Trade of the USSR and the RSFSR for many years, and during the Patriotic War he was the head of the Main Directorate of Food supply of the Red Army. In his book, he tells how the food problem was solved in the difficult years of the war, when a significant part of the country"s bakery areas, including Ukraine, was under the fascist occupation. Meetings on the supply of people and the army were held in the Kremlin under the personal leadership of I.V. Stalin. Talking about this, D.V. Pavlov cites many specific examples - including the selection of additional food sources, about the card system of issuing products, about the special conditions for the work of stores in the rear and at the front ("Voentorgi") In addition, he compares the supply of the Soviet and German armies and concludes that our army was supplied better. D.V. Pavlov ends his book with a post -war period, when the USSR, the first of the countries participating in the war, canceled the card system. Moreover, in the Soviet Union they began to annually reduce prices for grocery and industrial goods - it is not for nothing that the older -generation people later recalled the unique experience of Stalin for a long time
