The whole world speaks of love. Love is the number one topic. She is endlessly sung about her in various songs, she is described in countless books. She encourages people to do noble deeds, and sometimes great nonsense. Love makes our life brighter and more saturated, illuminating it like the sun. But another plant grows in the shadow of love. It spread around the world and invaded our souls. If it grows up, it will strangle all the sensations of the beautiful in life. This plant wrapping you up is called fear.
In the Bible, God appears to be almighty, ubiquitous, omniscient, righteous and saint. It is not surprising that the belief in such a god is accompanied by fear and a sense of one"s own nullity. The more a person recognizes God, the stronger he feels the threat emanating from him.
In his book, Johann Gerhardt clearly shows that fear of God largely defines our behavior, and also points to the gospel as the only means that helps a person cope with his fear of God and believe with joy
