Anthology, prepared under the leadership of the professor, doctor of historical sciences K. A. Panchenko, is the result of many years of work of the collective of translators and researchers of the Christian East. In domestic science, a deficiency of translations of the most important works of Arab-Christian literature is acutely felt, and therefore the significance of this book is difficult to overestimate. At a high scientific level, she solves the long -ripened task of collecting together the significant works of the Orthodox Arabs (Melkites) and not only gives a versatile idea of their written heritage and reflects certain aspects of their life, but also allows their culture to perceive their culture as a holistic and original phenomenon.
Each translation is accompanied by an introductory article and a funded comment, taking into account the latest scientific achievements. The book will be useful to both specialists and everyone who is interested in the Christian East.
