The akathist is dedicated to St. Nectaria (1846–1920) - one of the most revered saints in Greece. Born on the territory of Ottoman Turkey in Selimbria, the nectarium left for Greece, where he accepted the monastic tonsure (Khios) and trained at the University of Athens. In the status of Metropolitan Pentapolsky, he served in Egypt for two years, but undergoing disgrace and slander, he was forced to return to Greece. He served as a preacher on Evebay, and in Athens he led the theological school for more than ten years. Nectarius spent the last twelve years of his life on the island of Aegin in the conventional monastery he founded in the name of the Trinity. In 1961, the Patriarchate of Constantinople ranked Nectarius to the Plah of the Saints
