Akathist Strastem of Christ is read during the Great Passionate Service, called "Passion". Passion is a special rank of memoirs of the Gethsemane and Calvary sufferings of our Lord and the Savior Jesus Christ. The Akathist reads the gospel that tells of the passions of Christ, from where, in fact, the name of the passion appeared (lat. Passio - suffering, passion) This rank, established in Russia, Metropolitan Peter Mogila and committed in our time by the great post a week of the evening, acquired a special love of the Orthodox people. And this is not surprising - after all, it speaks with reverent trepidation of the suffering and torment of the innocent - for the sinners, pure - for the unclean, the Son of God - for the fallen people.
