Memory celebration - July 19/August 1 and August 13/August 26. Saint Tikhon was born in 1724 in the family of the poorest accountant of the village of Korotsk and soon lost his parent. His childhood and adolescence passed among the terrible poverty: sometimes he had to work all day with the inhabitants of his native village for a piece of bread. The miraculous salvation from mortal danger and some visions placed him to accept a monasticism. In 1758, he was tonsured a monk with the name of Tikhon. In 1761, at 37 years of life, Hieromonk Tikhon, by an obvious direction from above, was elected bishop. The last 16 years of his life he spent at rest in the Zadonsky monastery. All the time, with the exception of 4-5 hours of rest, he was dedicated to prayer, reading the Word of God, deeds and compilation of heartbreaking works. Often in simple monastic clothing, he went to the nearest city (Yelets) and visited prisoners of a local prison. He comforted them, had repentance and then endowed with alms. By nature, hot and hot -tempered, it was surprisingly meek and non -sound. St. Tikhon had the gift of insight and miracles. In 1778, when Emperor Alexander I was born, the saint predicted many events of his reign and, in particular, that Russia would be saved, and the invader (Napoleon) would die. The blessed death of St. Tikhon followed on August 13, 1783. In 63 years, his incorrupt relics were opened, and in 1861 he was ranked as the saints. Saint Tikhon is a heavenly patron of monks and church clergy, missionaries and catechists, seminaries. Saint Tikhon is praying for the talent of meekness and non -sound, ascetic exploits, about getting rid of any diseases, but especially from sincere diseases: sadness and despondency, from getting rid of alcoholism and drug addiction, mental insanity and imperative. Saint Tikhon helped a considerable number of people to return his vision, and the opportunity to walk, they also turn to him for help in extreme need and poverty
