Readers are offered to the attention of two relatively small, but well -known works of the great holy father of the Western Church? The 4th-5th centuries of the Blessed Augustine, Bishop of the Hippon (354-430): "On the High Serving of the Lord" (in two books) and "On the care of the deceased". These works are first published in Russian completely, and they concern questions that concern any Christian: how to escape and what awaits us after death.
The first essay - "On the High Serving of the Lord" - is devoted to the interpretation of one of the most important places in the Gospel - the Nagorny sermon of the Lord Jesus Christ (Matt. 5-7), which contains the doctrine of the salvation and foundation of Christian morality. The second - “about the care of the deceased” - considers such an actual topic that is relevant for humanity from the time of the fall to the universal resurrection, as death, and hence the topic of attitude to dead people, their souls and their bodies.
