The author of this book, the modern French theologian, the priest Francois Brun, is not afraid to pose the most acute issues that directly concerns each of us: what is the meaning of suffering? What should we do in the face of our own suffering and suffering of loved ones? How to correlate the inevitability of suffering in this world and the suffering of God Himself, the passion of Christ, with the idea that God is love? At the same time, the author, for many pages, argues with the idea of God as an inexorable ruler requiring us suffering, with the legal meaning of passions as a kind of ransom for sins.
