In continuation of the multi -volume edition of the diary of Metropolitan Arseny (Stadnitsky), one of the outstanding Russian church hierarchs of the first half of the 20th century, covering the period from 1880 to 1918, the fourth volume of the diary for January - September 1906 is dedicated to its activities as the ruling bishop of the Pskov and Porkhovsky diocese , present member of the Holy Synod, chairman of the Synodal Training Committee and a member of the pre -collection presence. The diary was reflected in the most important events of socio-political and church life in Russia of this time: the first Russian revolution, which began in 1905, the convocation and activities of the I State Duma, the preparation of the reform of the church administration and the convocation of the local cathedral. The author of the diary paid considerable attention to reforming the spiritual education system. The diary enables the reader not only deeper to get to know the history of the Russian Orthodox Church at the beginning of the 20th century, but also better understand the historical processes that took place in Russia during this period as a whole
