A comprehensive analysis of the role of religion in the political system of the Roman Republic is presented. Problems are investigated in detail as the sacred content of the Magistrates, the religious powers of higher magistracy (consulate, dictatorships, censorship), the political importance and form of influence of priests (pantiffics and August), the participation of religious and political bodies in the procedure of the establishment of temples, the status of temples in Roman social - Polytic organization.
