This training manual was prepared on the basis of the abstract of the same name of lectures, which were read by one of the authors of the specialty Safety of Technological Processes and Production of the Russian State University of Oil and Gas named after I.M. Gubkin. The course reflects the three main directions associated with man-made safety and technological risks - elements of the theory of reliability, elements of the general theory of risk and the basis of insurance mathematics. The reader requires preparation in the total course of mathematics for Technical University. Required additional information are given in the manual. Despite the fact that the main text is designed for bachelors of the specialty, the allowance can also be used in the preparation of undergraduates and graduate students of various engineering specialties in which courses related to reliability and risks are being studied
