This study is conducted within the cognitive-discursive paradigm in linguistics and is dedicated to discussing the pressing issue of choosing a political leader in modern society. It examines the linguo-cognitive mechanism of functioning of regulatory menasemic units characterizing the verbal behavior of American political figures. Special attention is given to the phenomenon of verbal threat, its communicative status and semantic specificity, as well as the development of menasema as a tunnel sign of the public-informational space of pre-election communication. The proposed study lays the foundation for the emergence of a new scientific direction in linguistic pragmatics - political menasology. It is addressed to linguists, political scientists, public relations specialists, journalists, university professors, and all those interested in the political life of society.
