The book is devoted to the most common diseases in gastroenterology: reflux esophagitis, hernias of the esophageal opening of the diaphragm and their complications. Historical information is given, the anatomy and physiology of the cardia area is described in detail. From modern positions, the issues of etiology and pathogenesis are outlined. Diagnostic capabilities are considered, conservative treatment using pharmaceuticals of recent generations is described in detail. Special attention is paid to the indications and the choice of the method of surgical treatment, the technique of operations is described in detail. The accumulated experience of more than 1000 operations is summarized and analyzed. From critical positions, postoperative complications and the causes of failures of antireflux operations, as well as methods of correction, are considered.
