Yevpatoriya. In the 20th century, this small resort town in western Crimea, with its rich history and unique architecture, like other cities on the peninsula, experienced many terrible events. The local population faced particularly many trials during the revolutionary upheavals of 1917 and the subsequent bloody Civil War. One of its manifestations was the mass Red Terror, which in Yevpatoriya took on the most cruel and terrifying forms. The tragedy that gained the most notoriety occurred in early January 1918, when hundreds of people were brutally killed by Bolsheviks and other left-wing radicals in just a few days. On the contrary, other episodes of violence remained practically unknown for a long time. The task of this work is to fill in this gap.
