The collection includes evidence of eyewitnesses about the facts of revolutionary terror in Moscow in 1917-1922, carried out by the Bolsheviks in relation to persons who are not pleasing to the new regime. Moscow prisons could not cope with the flow of those arrested, so already in 1918 more than a dozen concentration camps were organized in the city, primarily in the old Moscow monasteries (Ivanovo, Spaso-Andronikov, Novospassky, etc) The executions of the prisoners became especially massive after the attempt on Lenin and the adoption of the Decree of the Council of People"s Commissars on Red Terror in September 1918. The certificates of these events were left by persons who managed to avoid death and emigrate from Soviet Russia. Most of them are published in our country for the first time. The collection includes a number of materials from the historian S.P. Melgunov’s fund at the Archive of the Guuver Institute of War, Revolution and the World
