The history of Soviet Lithuania and the history of the Lithuanian Communist Party is a dramatic, exciting, and captivating story about people, destinies, loyalty to an idea, and the aspirations of the majority of the Lithuanian people. Currently, the Lithuanian Communist Party is once again banned and operates underground, and the current authorities of Lithuania do not approve of the memory of those who fought for the establishment of Soviet power in Lithuania, fought for it alongside the entire Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War, rebuilt what was destroyed during the war, and believed in a happy tomorrow.
The collection tells the story of the history of the Lithuanian Communist Party, about the real deeds and successes of socialist Lithuania, about the heroism and glory of those who, as part of the 234th Rifle Regiment of the 179th Rifle Division of the 29th Lithuanian Territorial Corps of the Red Army, later the 16th Lithuanian Rifle Division, fought against the Wehrmacht and defeated the enemy. Yakov Smushkevich (General Douglas) did not live to see the victory, but laid its foundation together with his comrades-in-arms in the skies of Spain and Khalkhin-Gol.
Being a communist in Lithuania today is not just dangerous, but deadly dangerous. The luxury of thinking and acting in accordance with one's views on the present and future of Lithuania is inherently punishable. Therefore, the past experience of victories and defeats is even more important, and a part of this valuable experience is included in this collection.
