Kavitar Knight Cross Colonel Wehrmacht Rudolf Petershagen was seriously wounded near Stalingrad. After recovery, he was appointed Commandant of the city of Greifswald. In the early 50s, the American occupation authorities were arrested. On charges of espionage, he was sentenced to imprisonment and released only in 1955
