"Ramayana: The Sea of Rama's Deeds" is an outstanding work by the Indian poet Tulsidas (1532-1624), written in Hindi and translated into Russian by the well-known Soviet indologist and linguist, academician Alexey Petrovich Barannikov (1890-1952). Reproducing the plot of the ancient Indian epic "Ramayana," Tulsidas, during a difficult time for his homeland, reminded readers of India's heroic past, its legendary heroes, and the gods who helped them establish a kingdom of goodness and justice on Earth. A.P. Barannikov provided the text of the poem with detailed comments (over 2,000), making this book a kind of encyclopedia of Hinduism. This edition is a wonderful gift for all those interested in the history, philosophy, and religion of India.
