The sixth edition of the textbook covers the scientific and legal foundations of radiation protection for personnel and the population, as well as the organization of the radiation hygiene control system. It discusses the regulation of radiation exposure on personnel, the population, and the environment, including requirements for limiting medical exposure and exposure of the population during radiation emergencies. A new chapter on "Protection against weapons of mass destruction" has been introduced, along with materials on ensuring personnel safety when working with a new type of nuclear fuel. The basics of radiation protection for the population from background, technogenic, and medical exposure, as well as technologies for handling radioactive waste, are detailed. The section on accidents on nuclear submarines has been expanded. The section of the textbook dedicated to the consequences of radiation accidents at the Chernobyl NPP and the Fukushima-1 NPP has been revised.
For specialists receiving postgraduate education in radiation hygiene, the electronic appendix to the textbook includes a set of test tasks with programmed answers to questions and provides a comprehensive list of current regulatory documentation.
