One of the tasks of this publication is to introduce the Russian-speaking reader to the diversity and breadth of interests of Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon (Maimonides) through the genre of prefaces. The collection includes his prefaces from the Commentary on the Mishnah, which can provide a certain understanding of this work, even though the Commentary itself is "off-screen." In addition, two short prefaces by Maimonides related to the "Aphorisms" of Hippocrates are provided. We hope that this book will complement the reader's understanding of the work of the greatest Jewish authority of the Middle Ages.
